The COVID-19 outbreak has done a full 180 on the world, uprooting the livelihoods of millions of people. 33.5 million Americans have filed for unemployment since March, the worst rate the country has seen since the Great Depression.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve seen several clients experiencing job loss in the wake of coronavirus. I commented on this in a CNBC Make It article written by Jennifer Liu. Titled How to cope with the emotional toll of losing your job, the article discusses navigating the workspace during this pandemic and remaining optimistic while facing unemployment.

Losing a job is a very difficult, personal experience that not only affects our financial stability but also our routines and mental health because of how connected self-worth and work are in our society.

But it’s important to remember that what is happening in the world right now is out of our control. We can only choose to respond with resilience and strength.
